Kamal Bechkoum, Professor of Computing, is Head of School of Computing and Technology. He is the University lead of a £3m Cyber Security project, working with organisations such as Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, GCHQ, IRM and the National Cyber Skills Centre to produce highly skilled cyber professionals in Gloucestershire and beyond. It is in this context that Professor Bechkoum participated in the launch of the national cyber awareness course, at the House of Commons on 7 September.

Before joining the University of Gloucestershire Professor Bechkoum worked for a number of UK higher education institutions including Cranfield, De Montfort, Wolverhampton, Derby, and Northampton where he was Executive Dean of the School of Science and Technology with university executive responsibility for research and enterprise and intellectual capital.

He holds a PhD in Software Techniques for Computer Aided Engineering from the University of Cranfield, UK. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Chartered IT Professional.

Specialties: Subject specialism is Artificial Intelligence, particularly intelligent software agents and their applications. He published on a regular basis in this area. Otherwise He is interested in education, leadership and international partnership and collaboration.
